Understanding The Future Of Solar Energy

Solar energy is direct energy that is derived from the sun, and the term also includes indirect forms of energy such as wind, falling or flowing water, ocean thermal gradients, and biomass, which are produced when solar energy interacts with the earth. In other words it is any form of energy radiated by the sun, including light, radio waves and x-rays.

The future of solar energy truly depends on how much effort people are willing to put into the research and investigation into the issue itself. At the present time the future of solar energy looks quite bright, as there are numerous different projects currently in the works which are designed and aimed at making solar energy a major resource in the years to come.

    The Future of Solar Energy

Issues such as global warming, fuel shortages, pollution, problems with nuclear power, and the deregulation of electric power are all considered as being able to dramatically change energy using technologies in the world, and solar power is considered as being one of the most major technologies that are available for producing power.

    About Solar Power

During the day, there is a constant supply of radiation that is coming from off of the sun, and although the amount of radiation is quite considerable to begin with, presently low cost commercial solid state solar cells are only able to convert about 11 percent of this solar radiation into energy.

Because sunlight is free, this makes solar power a very appealing choice, especially in those counties which have difficulties buying fuel. However one of the major downfalls to solar power is that when the sun goes down, there is obviously no electricity being produced, and so this can be very problematic.

Theoretically, the majority of thermal energy which is required in society could come from solar energy, however practically so far it has been considered as being too intermittent of a source. However this situation is likely to change dramatically as the price of fuel continues to increase.

As well the future of solar energy looks bright because this century we have started to use solar energy much more effectively, and it is very likely that we will end up increasing its use even more in the future. It is a positive thing that the future of solar energy looks good, because solar energy is actually one of the few sources that is able to provide energy and electricity without causing any harm to the environment or being too costly.
