    ADJUSTING TO A NEW CULTURE

Making the adjustment to a new culture may take some time. Through research, you will be able to learn more about the country, its laws, healthcare, school system, and other important items for you and your family.

    Other ways to adjust include:

Visiting local eateries, grocery stores, and other public places

    Visiting parks, tourist attractions

Asking people you work with where they enjoy spending their time

Driving or walking through different neighborhoods

Reading books on the history of the country and culture

    Attending cultural events

International relocation should be treated like any other type of relocation when learning more about your new environment. By meeting people, learning more about the culture, and attending local events, you will discover new food, new ways of thinking, and new perspectives on life.

International relocation should be looked at as an adventure. It is the opportunity for your family to experience how other people live and what it is like to live in a new place. Even if your relocation assignment is only for a few months, the time spent in another country will influence your life in a variety of ways. This is a wonderful experience for those who want to learn more about a culture, those who want to live in another country, and those who are looking for new challenges.
