    Do ALL thermostats turn on the heat when it falls below a certin point? Even really old honeywell ones?

    if the furnace is running, and the heat is on, even if the thermostat is set at the lowest setting (usually around 45 or 50 on the old dial thermostats) the heat will turn on. They have the minimum setting to keep pipes from freezing in the winter.

    If u have it set on auto, yes. There is a On/Off knob on 1 side, and auto set on the other and what tempt. u want it on.
