When Frank Lloyd Wright introduced his line of Usonian Homes, it became such a major hit and relief to the usual dull concrete and cement stone of metropolitan homes. These budget houses of single story structures, often with barren and large rooms with mostly honeycombed layout, won public attraction for its simplistic yet elegant beauty. Nonetheless the best legacy of Frank Lloyd Wright may be his induction of the carports. From the simple overhangs of the Usonian Homes sprung up a myriad style of carports, some uses of which remotely justifies the name. Modern homes just couldn't get any bigger to accommodate everything. There's always a place needed for a purpose. And most of these purposes even have shifted outdoors. Adding carports to homes became a significant home improvement. Dedicatedly designed patios could cost a buck, canopies are too easily destroyed by fierce winds and heavy snow, and garages cost space and money, not to mention it is not the most welcoming feature aesthetically in small city homes. Some really innovative carport design also makes carport a welcome element. Wooden carports are the choices for those who also want it to look good. Since wood has the most customizable element, many accessories, design and attachments can be made. However, there's also another innovative carport design, which is the Alumawood. It is basically aluminum but fashioned to resemble the look of wood with features that would allow some accessories and fittings to be added, just like a wooden carport.
